Katy Perry Joins Blue Origin’s First All-Female Crewed Spaceflight
Pop superstar Katy Perry made history on Monday, as one of the few civilians to venture into space, boarding Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft. Prior to launch, Perry described the experience as “emotional,” calling it “second only to being a mum.” During the short sub-orbital trip, she even sang “What a Wonderful World” a moment she later said moved her deeply.
More than just a physical adventure, Perry reflected on the mission as a personal one, revealing how it reminded her of the love she both gives and receives.
The flight lasted around 10 minutes, taking the crew over 100 kilometers above Earth’s surface and past the Kármán line, the internationally recognized boundary of space. It marked Blue Origin’s 11th human mission and its first with an all-female crew.
Joining Perry on this historic flight were:
- Gayle King, journalist and TV personality
- Lauren Sánchez, philanthropist and fiancée of Jeff Bezos
- Aisha Bowe, former NASA rocket scientist
- Amanda Nguyen, civil rights advocate and Nobel Peace Prize nominee
- Kerianne Flynn, film producer
Together, they briefly experienced weightlessness and etched their names into spaceflight history.
I am glad see so excelent post!
